 Hardwood Flooring

At S&S Flooring we have a variety of Hardwoods available on display including oak, walnut, parquet, teak and ash.

Oak is the most popular choice of flooring and is supplied in many finishes ranging from Natural through to dark Ebony with an array of wonderful tones and mixes in between.

Popular finishes include Antique for listed and period buildings or smoked and lime washed for a more contemporary feel.

While solid board is still used the majority of Hardwood flooring sold at present is engineered. This is solid hardwood fixed to multiply backing and not to be confused with laminate. It has the advantage over solid hardwood flooring that it can be used in conjunction with under floor heating as it is able to cope with the varying temperature ranges.

Our fixing teams also carry out a bespoke service whereby unfinished boards are finished to clients exact requirements.

Lacquer or Oil Finishes to Floor

To enhance the natural beauty of your wood floor, we use a wide range of hard wearing environmentally friendly and durable sealants with Matt, Satin & Gloss finishes.

The durability of water based polyurethane resins are used to combine a high degree of wear and chemical resistance within both residential homes and commercial premises.

Staining your sanded floor will give your room a whole new look and is particularly effective if you are looking for a rich wood effect, when you have pine wood floor boards.

There are a wide range of stains to choose from, helping you to create the look you desire for your home.

Colours range from Light Oak through to a rich Mahogany.

If you are unsure of what colours work best with your floor. We can apply various options to your floor.

Hardwood floor cleaning

On average most hardwood floors will need to be re-coated every three to five years. This is only an average. Some of our customers will go 10 years and some only two years. It really depends on if the floor is in a high traffic area, a kitchen will need to be re-coated sooner than a bedroom or dining room. General maintenance is a Buff & Coat, which is a light sanding that removes surface scratches and cleans and prepares the surface for another coat of urethane.

You can Buff & Coat your floor three times before you reach the cost of a total refinish job. The sheen is controlled by the type of urethane used. Urethane is like paint; it comes in different sheen's (designer satin, satin, and semi-gloss).

Buff & Coat is a light sanding that removes surface scratches, cleans, and prepares the floor for another coat of urethane. This is generally a one day job.

Sand & Finish is a total sanding to the raw wood. We then stain the floor to your colour and apply three coats of polyurethane. This process removes all dents, scratches and wear pattern (looks like a new floor).

Our Services are ideal for hotels, offices, health and leisure facilities, spas, gymnasiums, shopping centres, shops and boutiques, restaurants, bars, public houses, nightclubs, apartments, universities, churches, colleges and schools, holiday homes and private homes.
